What is that noise!!!

I have wondered this for a long time. When it gets dark there is a bug, frog, lizard or bird that makes chirping noises around the yard. There are more than 1. They usually chirp in brush piles or under things and I can never find whats doing it. I dont drink do drugs or any of that so thats not it! lol Is it the chupocabra or what!!?? Anyone ever hear this or know what it is?

Its much louder than a cricket. It sounds like a baby chicken but with a pattern chirp. Its 3 consecutive chirps then long chirps over and over. There are lots of house geckos here and some tree frogs along with toads.

Cicadas or Chicharras as we call them down here are very loud.. can't get to imagine the sound you are listening by the description you give. Crickets can be LOUD too.. they make the most creepy sounds on my place... after the rattler of course.
