Questions for the iPHONE tbh braintrust!

    1) Will the 3g that is at walmart right now for $97 be able to do all the apps that the 3gs can?

    2) I'm concerned about the key pad and texting/typing with my fat fingers. You guys get use to this?

    3) Do any of you just pocket your iphone? Any problems with doing this? Im not a fan of the cell phone carrying case!

    4) hows the reception/signal on your iphone? I NEED good signal at my ranch...

    Thanks all!

    (3) Get some kind of case or skin. They are slicker than owl snot and will not like hitting the hard floor too many times

    (4) Much better reception than my old Nokia

cuz - sent you a PM
        To answer your questions
1: - Yes for the most part - I think there are a few apps that the 3G can not run but the 3GS can - video related stuff I beleive - pretty much a non-issue.
2: I have fat fingers and it took me about a day to get used to the screen and typing - the spell correct thing does come in handy but typing really isnt a big deal.
3:Yeah I pocket mine when not in the otterbox (a little bulky in jeans with the case) just be sure the screen locks before putting the phone in your pocket - you can pocket dial on these phones.
4: 3G outside of major areas is pretty slim in my experience - on our old lease outside of memphis there would be spots with no signal and some spots with great signal - but I have never seen where I had a lack of a signal just because I had an iphone.

Hope this helps - now just go buy one and enjoy it!

You're a bit confusing there. Just to clear up your statement... There is no such animal as an iPhone 4G or 4Gs. The newest model announced today is the iPhone 4. You can preorder it starting next week. It's not a 4G phone, as AT&T doesn't have a 4G network working nation wide.

I just got a 3GS and am happy so far.

Check out the Otterbox Defender for protecting it if you are rough on equipment (like me). It listed for $50, is available for less and the guy at ATT demo'd it on his phone tossing the phone/case in the air to bounce on the store floor and it kept working. I have not have a problem putting it into my jeans or work pants pocket with the Defender.

After walking around with the Apple logo showing I started to say the President may actually be a great statesman and it doesn't matter where he was born he's so good............

So I covered it up with a Ducks Unlimited sticker so I did not have to see the Apple

One other question for you iPhone experts, if I do not install iTunes on my PC and then 'synch' up the iPhone, what happens? I don't get their software updates?

                      Bill,
If you install iTunes make sure you download the latest version which I believe is 9.1, then sync your phone to it. iTunes and iPhone OS updates will come via iTunes but updates on apps come through your phone and the Appstore.

If you chose the Otter Box, look online at Amazon.....I bought the OB Defender for $24 shipped just over a month ago.....saved 50% from the AT&T store

I got 25% off accessories at the ATT store with my new company's discount plan, so I just bought it on the spot.

If I do NOT want to install iTunes on my laptop, I was told I can get OS updates at an Apple store in a mall? I have never gone into one, every time I walk by I can't believe the people (Cali liberals) hanging out in there. Maybe I'll wear my "Hunt Pigs" T shirt when I go to get a reaction. Or a "Where's the birth certificate" T?

Thanks for all the input ya'll!
Guess the lady at walmart was confused cause she told me what they had was the 3g and not the 3gs.
Does the 3gS have vid cam and zoom or have to wait for the 4g for that?

3gs has video but no Zoom! I do not have a problem with it in my pocket and I have the otter box!

I too have fat fingers and sometimes hit the wrong keys but the phone catches it!

Just an FYI, the phone is very addicting
