I have not owned a video camera in a while. I am having a baby in september and me and my wife want to buy a video camera but don't know what to get. Might use it for hunting too but don't want to spend a bunch of money. Can anybody help me out?
I got a JVC everio for christmas for the same reasons. Except my wife is due in June. I like mine. Its simple to use. You can get them at walmart. I would get one that had an hdd and maybe expandable memory. Mine wasnt too expensive. Sony makes a good one too. congrats on the baby also.
The latest technology in the low end models are supreme to what you may have owned a few years ago. To be honest most of the features in these camera's unless you are sick crazy about videoing (HOGDUDE - Cough Cough) most folks wont even touch!
ttt. I would like a new camera within the next year. I would like to buy a top of the line one even tho I prolly dont need it. Whats a good mid level camera?
I would get a camera that has both internal memory, and the option to record to an external card. We have one that does this and can record to a DVD. Never use the DVD feature. The less moving parts the better. I dropped ours from about five feet and it works fine still. Is is a Sony dcr dvd810. picked it up on craigs list. I don't record to the internal memory much either. We have some nice shots at the lease of the kids in the blind scoping some deer. Also school plays and crap like that. It works great for us.
I have found the absolute best camera for videoing a kid is the Flip camera - it is small and easy to carry and you can turn it on and start filming in less than 3 seconds - the have SD and HD models - SD quality is good - HD is better - has limited zoom - but for videoing all the little things babies do - it is perfect - if I can figure out how to post a video I will so you can see the quality.
Okay - I don't have anything on youtube and I guess that is the only way to post a video - but if you want you can go to my wifes blog here and there are 2 or 3 videos that should give you a good idea on the quality of the Flip.
It is not the camera if you are going to want something for filming hunts but for something quick and handy while your baby grows up, IMO there is nothing better.
