1560 is devoting the entire morning show to him in the am. John and Lance are the ones who started the "Lima time" phrase.

RIP Jose! I know those in Heaven have to be laughing and motivated! He was such an inspiration and motivator. Jose was a great pitcher, but I will remember him for his fiery inspiration to the team & fans. Gone way too soon! Mr. Lima, you will be missed!! He was larger than life and lived every day to the fullest!

My wife and I were lucky enough to meet him one night in October 1999 for the last homestand in the Astrodome. My wife was an elementary choir director and had a group of 2nd & 3rd graders sing the National Anthem for a game against the Dodgers. We were down under the seating where the team hangs out before the game and they had a big feed laid out for the team. We were letting the kids go to the bathroom and Jose comes by with a big plate of fried chicken and an equal amount of chocolate chip cookies and said he was "hoongry", lol. He polished it off pretty quick and was just hanging out and gave me a BP ball with an "H" on it. As the kids were walking out onto the field from the outfield, I stayed at the open gates and there was another BP ball laying behind the fence but a ways down but it was from "LA". He saw me eyeballing it and walked over there and got it and gave me that one too.

It was a neat deal as I had two BP balls from that night and Coca Cola had an insane amount of the small bottles printed up for the 35th Anniversary and last homestand and we had cases upon cases they gave us.

It was a great night alltogether, our first son was actually conceived that night as I left for 2 weeks the next morning. Sadly those balls & their display case came up missing after Ike flooded the house. They were safe upstairs but some POS got them.

Jose was a good guy, lots of negativity surrounding his death on the message boards. May he rest in peace.

They had a "moment of silence" for him at todays Astros game, very very sad and way too young.
