    AK47 Question

I've just started looking at AK47's and was shocked to see there were so many countries that made this gun.
    Country Variant(s)
    -----------------------
    Albania
    Automatiku Shqiptar tipi
    Bulgaria
    People's Republic of China
    German Democratic Republic
    Egypt
    Ethiopia
    Hungary
    Iraq
    India
    Iran
    Israel
    Finland
    Nigeria
    North Korea
    Pakistan
    Poland
    Kałasznikowa
    Romania
    Serbia
    South Africa
    Sudan
    Vietnam
    Former Yugoslavia

My question is the quality of them all about the same? Or do some stand out from the others?
    Thanks for the help

I've heard Romania makes the best...and I can vouch for them as very reliable. J and G sales(google it) has really good prices on them. Draco for home defense is like $329, I think

You're missing about 1/2 the countries that make them or use them.

Romanian WASR 10/63 is a good one, definitely not the best by a long shot, but still an excellent gun.

An Arsenal milled or a true krink from Russia will be the best.

If you just want a standard chopper, google Century International Arms. They are the best importer out there.

          Don't bother with Saiga.

Any gun store can get you a CIA WASR 10/63 for about 450-550 new with all 7 US compliant parts. This will be your best bet to a complete legal gun. Any AK must have 7 US made parts on it.

Ah! The magic of the AK 47. Many different countries make them and they are still a VERY dependable weapon. JMO.

Mesquite country- Thanks for the heads up on the link. I'll go check them out.

I use to think I would never be interested in one. But here lately I've started to start taking a shining to them. I've looked around on a couple AK sites but just couldn't find the answers I was looking for. I knew TBH would pull through for me. Thanks everyone!!

we need an "Ask Travis" for weaponry!

                "cuerno de chivo"

recently learned that was the slang for the AK on the other side of the river

goat horn.... that's all I got

Funny you say that, an H2A that works for us was giving me the low down on Monterrey said the same thing. I asked him where they get them all from, his response was easy, most guns come from South America or "Chino's"

I have a Chinese one and a Russian (kalishnakoph or how ever you spell it). Chinese is alot more accurate but you can tell it's not the same quality as the russian one. It rusts alot easier and has a higher frequency of jamming when rapid firing. Bought both right after I turned 18 and didn't pay $300 for the 2 together.

Quality follows pretty close to price. Most will get the job done though.

Ok, So I'm seeing that some are automatic. Are most automatic? And do you have to have a special license to own a fully auto, or semi auto?

IMO the Bulgarians make the finest AK that is made.

They're going to be semi auto. If you go full auto, yes you have to have the license.
