    Boot help

I'm looking for a rubber hunting boot (insulated). Which one do you like. I've always heard of Rockies but several guys have said they have problems with the soles falling apart. I want something scent free also. And whats the difference between 1,000 grams of insulation and 5mm. Is the mm talkling about rubber thickness or the amount of insulation in the boot. Thanks for your help

I have 2 pair of Lacrosse alpha burley one pair non insulated and one pair that has 800 gram insulation. Have had real good luck with them and they are very comfortable. I hunt is Kansas and Illinois and have not had problems with wearing 800 gram. Have heard alot of folks like the Muck boots as well but have never owned any. Good luck.

I got some Sorel Manitobas from REI at least 10 years ago. They have a wool insert for insulation(very warm). I still use them every hunting season. Only when it is cold though.

II always liked the Burly's, but bought muck boots last year and like them much better.

The mm. is associated with the thickness-usually in relation to a boot with neoprene on it. Honestly-I think the best thing to do is go to a place like Cabela's(that'll have several brands on hand and try them all on. Everyone's feet are different, and trying them on is going to be the best way to determine what 'll fit your feet best.
How many grams of insulation you need is determined best by 1. are you still/stand hunting or stalking(if you are in-active/sitting on a stand , you WILL need more)
                            2. how cold it is and what your body considers warm enough-most people in Tx weather are prolly in 800 to 1200 gram range.

I prefer 1200 grams, my brother who also hunts on our lease prefers 600-go figure!
