It looks like the news is out. At the time of posting they were still looking for his wife to inform her. It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you one of my friends and collegues the head biologist at Gus Engeling was killed in a tragic accident today. I have no details but his wife will need ton of prayers.
It is with immeasurable sadness that I write to inform you that one of our colleagues, Wildlife Biologist Wes Littrell , was killed today in a tragic accident at the Gus Engeling Wildlife Management Area near Palestine . For those of you who did not know Wes, he joined TPWD as a student intern in 1996, became an agency employee in the State Parks Division at Eisenhower State Park , joined the Wildlife Division in 2001 as a wildlife biologist, and was the lead biologist at the Gus Engeling WMA since 2007. Wes was well liked and well regarded by his peers. He was particularly known for his great passion for managing and enhancing wildlife habitat. I trust we may all take some measure of solace knowing that Wes died on the WMA while doing the work he loved best. He will be missed dearly by his colleagues inside the agency.
In this time of great grief for Wes's wife, Lynne, his parents, his brother, and his many friends and colleagues, I ask that you keep them all in your thoughts and prayers. As we have more details about memorial services for Wes, we will let you know.
