    walked out to the truck a few minutes ago and nearly stepped on him. Don't know what kind, just curious what it is. Thanks.

                            Many rat snakes. That one's a gray rat snake. What tumbleweed calls the chicken snake is a yellow rat snake. Shy mousers that keep well in captivity (strictly from a herpatologist's point of view).
