I had l4 and l5 done in 06, zero problem since. This was my second surgery, the first one was just a clean up and it lasted for about 8 years. The best thing to do is try to stay in the best shape as you can, this means a lot of walking. It is amazing what a lot of walking can do.

I had L4/L5/S1 fused in 2005 and felt great. 1.5 years later the pain came back but in a different spot. Turned out the titanium screws started backing out of my vertabrae. Went in for a 2nd back surgery in 2007 and I have been great ever since. Its a long recovery but being pain free beats the back/hip and leg pain anyday. Good luck with your surgery and God Bless.

Thanks for all the input fellas. I'm still nervous but I really believe in my neurosurgeon.
