How many yearly hunts to kill "your buck"

Each year it's different. I've passed on some that others screamed at me to kill....the next sit.....he died. I've had others, this year for example, that closed to less than 20 yards but....the shot scenario wasn't right and I'm not one to force things on a good one. He will be back this season and if it's the one for me...it will all come together.
I never really push things with a bow....the smoke pole...they all die

I'm really not to picky on antler size but mainly age. It's nice when they have both going for them though. My avatar pic buck that I shot back in December of 2008 I had only seen once before after dark. My uncle-in-law had seen him numerous times before during the earlier part of the season while doing yard work or walking. I was just lucky enough to see him one morning 15 minutes into the hunt and gave him the stick.
Since then, I have not shot a buck that was mature and within bow range. I just enjoy getting out there and watching and will only now shoot one with the bow. Not to worried if I come up empty handed as I take axis more than anything lately.

My biggest buck took 4 years. I saw him once a year on opening day of muzzle. Most of the time to far or I would jump him. I bought one of the first ultra mags thinking I would reach out and tag him. I shot him at 3 feet. Stuck the gun out and pulled the trigger.
The year before last I hunted 90 days trying to take 2 different bucks. I had him in bow range once, but after dark.

Got my little hill country 8 point two years into hunting but that is not "THE BUCK". I blew it twice on two real trophies due to the fever. I never shoot so bad in my life. One out of Bandera a wide, wide bullwinkle with short tines and a 160" tank at Laguna Atascosa. I don't kill myself searching for a trophy anymore-it took the fun out of enjoying deer season. I just enjoy the experience now.
