    A week for candy

That is pitiful! I would have to ask them to show me the nutritional values of the food they serve for lunch.

that is ridiculous. if she wasnt supposed to have candy at school, make her throw it away. I might even agree with the school if the girl was eating candy in class. But she was in the lunchroom. when will common sense kick in?

the child nutrition rules that the schools must follow dont have anything to do with food brought from home. only what is served by the school.

If this was my child, well they wouldn't like me anymore. What a stupid thing to do for having candy.

what is the country coming too.

It's not about the child anymore. It's all about the mighty dollar (funding) that the child represents to the state. It hasn't been about the child for a long time now. Unfortunately, the child is just a number on a sheet of paper the school turns into the state to qualify for more "funding".

A weeks detention for a Jolly Rancher........they would not have liked me either by the time I was done.

"...failing to adhere to the state’s guidelines could put federal funding in jeopardy." everything is about the $$$.

And this is in Orchard...a small town south of Sealy. Not a big town like Houston. That's really, really sad that this kind of stupidity happens even in small, country towns.

Yep. It's ridiculous. I just sent a "not so nice" email to the principal involved. Her email address is jyoung@brazosisd.net if anyone's interested. It can also be found on their website, in case the mods have an issue with me posting it here.

Those people should not be allowed to teach children, they obviously lack brains. I just wonder if they have something against this child or the parents.

Way to take the girl out of the class room for a week. Detention is nothing but busy work with no learning taking place.
