    Gestation ?

Don't know if I spelled it right.
What is the length for a doe? I think I remember it being around 212 days. Reason I'm asking is I saw my first fawn this morning.

The first web site that popped up when "gestation for white tail deer" was entered into google said 200 days.

That would put the breeding around the middle of Oct. I have always heard of them breeding in Oct. but have never witnessed it. I have always started seeing lots of bucks showing up around the middle of of Nov. and the hot and hvy chasing from around Christmas till even after the regular season close's.

saw my first tiny baby April 31st. Smallest deer I have ever seen, had to be 1 day old or so. Never seen them that early in May. Cool site to see tho with mom and baby running along road.

Down in our neck of the woods they don't start ruttin till the end of December. That would put the end of the gestation period for our deer at the later part of July.

Many studies have been conducted and they all show a little different time 185-215days, but the scientific community usually just says 200 as a good rule of thumb. So first of October when that specific doe was bred.

I saw my first fawn two weeks ago. Gestation is 180-200 days. The peak of the rut in this area is usually around mid October.
