Question about windows on a ground blind

So, I'm going to build my own ground blind out of wood. Was wondering what the recommendations were for window size and shape. I don't like shooting through Shoot Through Mesh.

I was thinking about 8" wide by 24" tall with Plexi-glass windows that slide.

    Opinions?

    Thanks

My opinion is to resist the urge to go big. The larger the window the more light you let in, and scent you let out, therefore the more likely you are to get busted. The windows in my blinds are 10"X18".

I think mine are 10"x20" and with all blacked out, its hard to see me in there.

I made mine the same dimensions as the windows in my Double Bull - 7"x15" and they start 31" from the floor. When it comes to windows I also think smaller is better - you can still cover a big area shooting lane-wise, it conceals movement better and stays darker inside. (Of course if you plan to use mesh, big windows work fine - which is something many prefer.)

Not trying to steal this thread just add to it.. I am looking at building a 2 person elevated blind for my wife and I. I am looking at having 3 shooting windows, one in front towards feeder, and then 1 on each side for hand fed corn/food plot. I read on Jerp's that his windows are 31" above the ground, the blind I am building will be elevated (the floor will be 4 foot off the ground) and the blind will be about 8' above the draw that I will be hunting so... around 12 foot to the floor of my blind from ground level. What are suggestions on windows... vertical or horizontal and a good starting point from the floor to start the window? I will not be shooting through mesh but I was thinking of stringing burlap strips (painted black) over the window that can be pinned back or moved aside before the shot

I just built one that originally was to sit on the ground, but decided to elevate it (but only 6 feet). I put "store-bought" windows in mine that I got from Lowe's for like 36 bucks. They are sliding windows and have a 10" wide by 22" tall opening. The window and frame assembly is roughly 24 X 24 inches. I put a "curtain rod" of sorts above the window and hung "drapes" made of camo netting over them. they are quiet, and seem to work just fine. They even have those little locking mechanisms. The other ones I've used are the 12 X 24 sliding version that has about a 9" square opening. they are a bit small, but do work pretty nice...
