I will be staying at a park on Fayette Lake this weekend. Have any of you'll been there. I'm not 100% sure of the name, but the park is 50 % owned by the Colorado River Authority, and I believe the half by the state. Anyways, just curious to know about any good or bad experiences. Also, is the Lake good for bass fishing, or are you better going for catfish. Any tips would be much appreciated.

It's to hot for bass right now. The water stays about 80+ degrees so generally the best time to fish there is during the winter or early spring because the discharge water from the power plant flows into the lake.
I know a couple of weeks back the tilapia were biting like crazy take your bowfishing bow or a big cast net and you'll fill a cooler quick.
oh make sure you bring lots of mosquito repellent. If you're going to fish get you some water dogs for bass.

It is probably Oak Thicket. It is a nice Park and campground. The lake might be to warm to enjoy swimming in {power plant lake}. One tactic that will work for bass this time of year is to troll Bagley DB3 crankbaits over deep structure. The bass will suspend in the tops of trees and can be caught this way in the summer. Good Luck !!! Woody

Oak Thicket is the bigger of the two. The other park is just for tent camping. I have spent lots of time out there fishing and Skiing growing up. With recent rains the water temp will not be that bad. Now come late July and August the Ski area will feel like a hot tub. Fishing should still be good if you get out on the humps in deaper water. Your best bet will be to buy some water dogs if they have them. Put them on weedless hook with no weight and let them swim. Carolina rig the deep water humps will work as well.

This lake is one of the top bass lakes in the state. You can wear your arm out on bass and the catfishing is good too. I fished a tournament there about 3 weeks ago and did real well using a dropshot. The lake has some good structure and cover so use your graph to find where the fish are. Be sure and have your safety epuipment on board because the Game Wardens do a great job patrolling this lake. The lake can get very rough in just a few moments so be cautious and safe. IM me and I can give you some more info that may be of help.
