    Rut is on...

in NW Austin anyway. The last two nights I've seen all the big boys chasing does around my house. These are the bucks I never see until the rut starts. Last night alone I saw two different 160 class 10 points, two average 8 points and a melanistic 6 point, which with the dark chocolate coat and pure white antlers was a site to behold. They were constantly on the move with tongues hanging out.

Anyone seeing this further west in the Hill Country yet, like Mason County?

Where the heck are you in NW Austin with two different 160 class bucks running around? I need an exact address so I know where to be Saturday morning

Really, where are you near Austin that holds deer like that?

Can you hunt the colf course?!?!?!?! :P
There's some decent size deer in Round Rock too.
All on that land South of 620. They cross over into the neighborhoods on the North sometimes.

If I could, there would be several P & Y bucks hanging on my wall!! It's real shame that I spend tons of money and drive to Mason every weekend when I have wallhangers in my yard almost every night!!

...and the season is now closed!! GRRRR!!

I saw similar activity in Mills County yesterday evening with 3 separate running bucks between 4:55 - 5:00 p.m. Biggest was an 18" heavy horned 10 pointer. Cold snap just kicked em into high gear, yet hear I sit. tsk tsk
