Glad you posted. I am looking for one myself. I am looking at the Nikon Prostaff 440 and Leupold RX-I. I am leaning to the Leupold RX-I. Any input from anyone on either of these?

I am going to get the Leupold RX-II with the TBR (true ballistic range). reason I am going to get it over the RX-I is the additional features and the TBR. it measures the true range of your shot no matter where you are at. i.e elevated treestand, tripod, hillside shooting up or down hill, across a valley or whatever the case. it has many of the added feature that I will need as a guide but might not be what you are looking for. just my .02

btw.....i have used both this past season and the RX-II is the way to go....little more money but worth the extra coin

The new Shooting Times, July 2007, has a test on the latest range finders. They test the Bushnell Elite 1500 ARC, Leica Rangemaster CRF 900, Leupold RX lll, and the Nikon Monarch Laser 800. The tests are for range against a nilgai hide and also a reflective surface. They all are more than adequate for long range rifles. List prices range from $400 to $600. I'd suggest a trip to the news stand for a copy to get the details, but if archery were the intended purpose I would think that the cheapest off brand would be more than adequate for that.

I have the Nikon 440 in Realtree Hardwoods and have used it on more things than I can count.....deer hunting with a rifle......duck decoy setup....turkey hunting....dog training etc.....and now archery. It has never failed me and the battery lasts forever.

I use Nikon Monarch scopes as well so it was a no brainer for me.

I haven't used the Leupold so I can't help you there. Have a buddy with a Bushnell and it was very serviceable as well.

I guess I should have put in it would be used for archery mostly. But you never know, someday I might knock the dust off a gun or 2...

I like the price of the RX-I. I also like that it will range to 750yds vs the 440 for the Nikon. I love Nikon but refuse to buy anything that say Buck Masters on it so the 600yd version is out. Looks like I will be purchasing one of the Leupolds or the Nikon 440.

my dad has the rx-II and i like it. used it a few times to set up the target at the house and also a minth ago on a pig hunt. i liked it, but it is alittle rich for my blood. i am looking at the nikon 440. i would li,ke one that goes out to 800 but i really have no use for it right now. in the future i want a long range .30 cal. but i will stick with the .224 one i have now.

I found a super deal on the Leupold RX-II on eBay. It's a 'Buy it Now' for $194.00 + $8.00 shipping. There's 4 days left and 45 more available.

I ordered one off Ebay as well. Thanks for the heads up. I ordered a RX II from Cabelas with a bunch of other stuff just before you posted that. Called them up, cancelled the range finder and ordered one off Ebay. Saved me $100. Thanks again.
