I don't base it on if I killed or not but on how hard the guide worked for me.

I usually tip between 15% - 20% of the fee. The guys appreciate it and it pays off in the quality of the next hunt or fishing trip. It's human nature. If a guide knows where a big animal is do you think he's going to call a guy who is a poor tipper or take him to his best spot? Nope, he's going to call the guy who gave him his Swarovskis last year.

Good answer!
Minimum should be 10% of the price of the hunt. Doesn't matter if it took an hour, half a day, or multiple days. And even that depends on the price of the hunt...if you are tipping less than $100/day, it's not enough. Most of the work happens before you (the hunter) ever gets there. Of course, if the guide is a lazy jerk, feel free to make adjustments.

I have guided on several occasions and have never EXPECTED a tip. I have been tipped anywhere from $50 - $500 and a nice skinning knife for a 3 day hunt. I can honestly say that I would not have been dissapointed if I had not gotten a tip any of the times I have guided. Some folks save up every dime just to afford the hunt, I SURE don't expect them to spend more money tipping me for doing my job. JMO

When I was guiding waterfowl $20 per person was great. I always worked my tail off though. I wanted to kill them as much or more than the customer's. I charged $500 per group of four. I never expected anything because I was gonna probably hunt anyway. I made alot of good friends from guiding.

I guide for a living.
Have been tipped 1k for a one hour hunt and 50 for a ten day hunt. Never ever expect as tip, but it sure is nice when you get one.
As many have said, big tippers get extra perks.
If the guide was great, tip great. If the guide was poor, tip poor.
Either way have fun with your guide, be friends, and have a great hunt. Not taking an animal is made easier when you have a blast on your hunt.
