Info on guns you can change barrels on.

What are some of the gun companies that make interchangeable barrels?

Looking for something I could shoot a .50 cal muzzle loader and a centerfire
cal like a 223 or something.

    Thompson center encore or prohunter.

The scope stays attached to the barrel so you don't have to resight every time you change barrels.

There's the T/C Encore and then all the rest in distant second. CVA is doing it as well.

        1. TC Pro Hunter/ TC Encore
        2. CVA
        3. New England Firearms, H & R, Rossi - i think all of these are interchangeable (maybe not with each other though)...

I am pretty sure the NEF/ Rossi/ H&R all need to have the barrels fit to the frame, and are then not interchangeable with another frame.

CVA Optima Elite (but NOT the "Stalker" model available at Academy, that one will require fitting the barrel to the frame. I know, I made that mistake, but it's a shooter none the less). CVA also makes another model that is interchangeable, but I can't remember the name of it off hand. NOT ALL of there weapons have switch barrel capabilities, so do your research before buying. For the price, they guarantee 1" at 100 yards with factory ammo....can't hardly beat CVA for price IMO.

                I wouldn't mess with anything but Thompson/Center.

New England Firearms (NEF) has interchangeable barrels. But, you have to send the frame in to NEF to have the new barrel fitted to the frame. After that, you can change them at will. But, if it were me, I would go T/C, even though it will cost you more up front.

T/C all the way. I have an Encore in 25/06 and .50 cal and love it. You can change the barrels out in 2 minutes, plus the breech plug is easy to remove on the .50 for easy cleaning. I have an older .50 cal T/C Black Diamond that I hated to clean because you had to remove the breech plug and firing spring to clean. A real headache.

                      Best of luck to ya.

One that had not been mentioned is the Knight KP1. Knight is going through reorganization right now. Some guns are still available at tremendouse prices. I am going to buy the stainless camo 50 cal ML. Wholesale is only $400 and centerfire bbls are half of TC. PM me if you want one too.

That's the benefit of the CVA lineup....new Bergara barrels are around 200 bucks. The T/C barrels are about twice that IIRC.

Only custom barrel cost that much. Factory barrels are in the mid $200 range for standard caliber blued barrels. I just paid $350 shipped for a fully custom, 28" blued, fluted barrel from Match Grade Machine. They are built using Schilen match grade blanks. I was able to pick my contour, twist rate, finish, etc.....

I'm not saying the CVA isn't a good product but no other manufacturer is going to have the caliber availability, aftermarket parts and barrels, etc... as the T/C lineup.
