I would say that if the Bolt came matched to the Barrel and the bolt fully closes then it should be safe to fire. I have build 6 or 8 AR's and never had a problem. It may not function correctly but it should be safe to shoot.
If you are really worried about it then get some go - no-go gauges if you can find them and check the head space.Comment
