    iPhone GPS app????

Is there an app I can buy I have 3g???? My bud has a 3gs and he has a compass app that came with the phone that follows you and you can drop a pin when ever you want so you can go back to that location... Is that something only 3gs has or can I get that feature on my 3g buyin it???

Good question. I needed this yesterday at a buddy's lease. TTT

most gps apps have drained the snot out of the battery when I have used them.

Someone mentioned turning off 3g when out and about using the gps on the phone and it should not eat the battery as much.

the apps I have been tinkering with recently, AllSportLE and purchased AllSportGPS and can't tell really the difference, MotionX GPS...I have had a chance to test with 3g turned off to see how it affects battery drain on any of these yet.

then there is always the maps app that is on there to begin with, pretty generic but it works for showing where you are and you can drop pins/waypoints

I have the gps kit and it's pretty good. It also has a low usage mode to save battery life. I think it was about $10. Pretty cheap compared to $150+ for a hand held. Go to your app store and type gps kit, should be the 1st 1 that pops up. It has a hand held and a topo map on it

I got the MotionX last week to go up to Witcha Falls, 2 different addy's, and it worked great.
.99c, and if you want to keep the voice, it's $25 a year and for a good GPS and that ain't bad...

Google Maps lets you market favorites, doesn't sound as good as the app you are discussing. I think you actually need cell coverage, otherwise it will guess where you are within 4100 meters. With cell coverage you get about 3 meters accuracy, ETA and other routes. A free download.
