Well, I can tell my kids I was there when Texas Stadium went down... I got up at 3:30 this morning to get there in time to get a good spot. Some buddies and I found a spot just off of HWY 183 east of Loop 12. Incredible view!!! They shut the service road down and we got in the middle of the street to watch the ignition. The explosions were chest pounding and the drunks were hilarious. It was a great time!!! If my buddy sends me the video I will post it up. What is your favorite Cowboy memory from there>

I'm so sad. I competed in the Punt Pass and Kick when I was 8 years old there. It was too cool standing on the 50 yard line and looking up. I can still see it as if were yesterday.I've been to several games there, and a kick A#$ eagles concert. Good by old friend
Now it's time to go see a game at the new stadium.

Glad to see that Irving realizes the value of that land under that place! Unlike these folks in Houston that think the ASTRODOME is some mythical monument. The city is $100 million in debt and pay $2 million or so a year to keep it "kinda" standing. No events, no functions........just a empty shell of a relic!!! Good job Irving, Texas as you now have a asset worth having.

A lot of good memories came from that stadium no matter what it's "current" state is or was. From the late 70s, early 80s, the early to middle 90s and even some of the 00s years, pics of the high centered field with the stars around the base of the stadium seats and the hole in the roof will always be synonomous with football greatness.... Landry, Johnson.......Staubach, Aikman, Meredith.....Pearson, Hill, Irvin, Harper, Hayes.....Dorsett, Springs, Smith, Moose, Newhouse.....Martin, TooTall Jones, White, Lilly, Haley, Jeffcoat .....Harris, Waters, Woodson, Sanders.....lotta good memories in that 39 year old house. It's a sad day even though it needed to be done......

The Astrodome was a mythical monument in the past. It was in a class of its own at a point in time. However, times change and it needs to go. There have been numerous ideas on what to use it for, but nothing would ever generate the revenue needed to even pay for the upkeep of the place. It's time to let her go. At the very least, parking would much improve for Texans football and the rodeo.

My grandfather worked for Clint Murchison Jr for years, and we were fortunate enough to go to alot of games for several years...I have a picture I need to scan of me sitting on the bar in the owners box during a game.
As an adult, I was sitting on the 45 yard line the night E.Smith broke the NFL rushing title against the sea hawks. I almost didnt go to the game, and changed my mind at the last minute and took the free tickets I had been offered
Been to several playoff games over the years, and seen tons of concerts and other events there..
Today was a sad day for me, I have alot of fond memories in that stadium. Gonna miss it
