    Central Air/Heat Problem

Ok guys i know i don't need a heater right now, but it bugs me why it's not working.....

Yesterday i changed out my thermostat to a programmable thermostat in the house. Here is my problem...

With the mode in AUTO the ac works great, but the heater does not. If the mode is switched to the ON position both work just fine.

I have double checked my wiring 5 times on the new thermostat and it is exactly what the wiring diagram shows with the jumper and all.

Any ideas what could be going on? Relay switch?

All I got is a wild shot in the dark. Maybe the wiring on the other end wasn't done correctly?

Oh yeah, read the programming directions thoroughly. I've been burned more than once by that one.

The only thing i changed was the inside thermostat, so i don't think the other end wiring should be the problem since it wasn't touched. I did check the fuse in the attic and it was still good. My guess is relay or capacitor, but those are COMPLETE GUESSES.

I had the same problem when I replaced my thermostat last year but it was my a/c that wouldn't work, not my heat. I even had the jumper in the right place, or so I thought. I had to call out an a/c guy out and sure enough it was the jumper.
