    String stops?

I have a string stop like most people today and sense I put it on I have noticed that it helps with sting noise, I think anything helps. My question is, is there a proper distance that the string stop should be from the string in order to get optimal silencing?

a credit card width from string to stop

Gap about the width of a credit card. That way it doesn't stop the string too early. Later when your string stretches and comes in contact with it, you will know it is time to get the bow tuned!

Longtime archery shop owner while setting up his own bow yesterday, pointed out the fact that out of the factory, his Z7's dead stop was off center (this I could barely see w/o getting up close & personal, but indeed it was). He said that without first centering it, it would give him horizontally r/l groups.

Dont know about that bow, but some are designed to be off center (alot to do with riser torque). Centering will cause tuning problems on some bows.
