Gut check on Z7 - Speed, etc.

I need to do a gut check and see if my new z7 is shooting about right.

    27 inch 60 pound.

I did not check the poundage, it is cranked all the way down and backed off one turn, I think it is shooting about 60 pounds, give or take a pound or two.

Shooting 27 inch AXIS 400's with 100 grain tips, total about 380 grains with Blazers.

Through the crono at 252 fps.

Sound about right to you guys?

              It's a Z7, it's a 60lb. bow. Come on, get with the program.

yes it is a little slow, but and there are two reasons why. your short drwa length and the weight of the arrow. with your draw legth you can shoot a lighter grain per inch arrow and not worry abouy being underspined because your arrow can also be shorter. make sense? so if you want to be faster, get a lighter arrow. it is very doable. just to give you an idea. my des350 is set at 63# and shooting 328 with a 330 grain arrow. now that is at 30 in draw and it is a 6in brace height, but you can get a lot more out of that bow.

I don't need or want more speed, I just wanted to make sure I was where it should be given the set up. I might try lighter arrows next time I buy some.

The bow shoots much better than I can and so far I am very pleased. Was shooting 5 inch +/- groups today at 50 yards. I have never shot a bow at 50 yards before. That HHA sight is nice once you get it dialed in.

When I get my stablizer on it it might even do a little better.

PM Rocky with your specs but that seems slow for that bow. I'm thinking you ought to be 270+. But I've been wrong before...

That speed is probably about right. But, I think your total arrow weight is more than 380. You gotta add for nock, insert, and vanes. I shoot the same arrow, same length out of a 27" Switchback set at 70lbs, and I'm only getting about 265fps. Always figured my total arrow weight a little over 400 grains.
