    Another Port A Question

I have read a lot of helpful information about where to stay at Port A. But I have another question.

The wife and I were thinking about going down the last week in April. What is the weather like? Is it still to cold to hang and swim at the beach? I know it was average of 76 degrees last year, but don't live by the water so don't know these things.

Also, feel free to add anything regarding what to see and do.

    Thanks Fellas.

Questionable weather from day to day this time of year. Like today, we woke up to 52 and howling N wind (I'm straight inland form Port A). Just one of those chance things. Hope it turns out great for you!

Ha ha it was the crisp and chilly morning here in Austin that got me thinking about it. Thanks for the post.

9 out of 10 days its gonna be WINDYYYYYYYYYY from now till first of June or so. Port A Brewing Co., Trout Street and Virginia's on the Bay are my top 3 for food....back porch for drinks and live music....fishbites in the surf or cut bait for fishing or hit the jetties with live shrimp.

depends on weather...last week it was mid 80's here and this morning was in the 50's....
if you catch a warm spell it should be fine to get in the water...

Water temperature right now is almost 70 degrees which is a bit chilly but tolerable. By the end of this month it will be a few degrees warmer so being able to get wet will not be so uncomfortable. Have a good time!

Virginia's is a place we always go when we go to Port A we always have a good time going there. Finn's has a great burger also. And I plan to try Port A Brewing Co. this time around.

We have normally gone around July, so we were kind of wondering if it would be cold and windy.

Thanks to what has been posted here before in other threads, we are going to go bird watching and check out the UT Marine Science Institute also.

Pack a little of everything. I woke up this morning at 4 am to howling winds, ran to check the boat in shorts and flip flops, not a good idea. As mentioned back porch for drinks if the weather is nice but my fav is the coast club. pelican club and shells for good eats . If you plan on drinking take a cab the police aint playing, very target rich environment for them ,and they seem to enjoy it. have fun maybe i will see you around .

The holiday inn was great. The weather is nice this time of year and the fishing is awesome. If you have a travel trailer there are places right on the beach with hookups.

What about stuff to do while we are there? Like I said we have been there several times and we have a blast, but any must see stuff? I want to see if there is something I am missing.

If your looking for a good burger go across the ferry and take a right on 35 in aransas pass. There is a little place out a few miles on the left called shempy's. If you get to rockport you went to far. If you don't see a HUGE propane tank you aren't far enough.

To do's while here. Aquarium and Lexington, both expensive for my taste. Hooks baseball game. Iceray's if still playing, not sure of the season. The beach obviously. Some fishing.

Hanging out with the family would be #1 though.

Water will be a little cold still in April! Should be warm enough to enjoy the sandy beach.

take the jetty boat to the north jetties, go to packery channel just south of port a eat, drink, fish, relax then repeat

Snoopy's Pier for lunch if you go to Packery.....JP Luby is by far the best beach. GT is right about the food but also try the grilled shrimp at Castaways. No trip to Port A would be complete without bashing crablegs with a wooden mallet at The Crazy Cajun.
