CHecking background information on Leases

Do any of you guys ever check up on the landowners or leasing agents of potential lease property?

I have been looking around for a new lease and wow... I don't want to say what I stumbled across... but just a tip.... it never hurts to put someone's name into the good old google search and see what comes up!

good point. with the money that will be spent, is it not the same as a home improvement?

Our club in East Texas checks the members. Started after one guy had a few to many one new years eve and come to find out he was a convicted child molester. Took the game warden two days to actually see him carrying his rifle out of the woods. That was the last we saw of him.

Leasing agents/yes, landowners/no.

I think it's a good idea. Been a lot of hunters shafted by landowners.
