Is anyone else still seeing deer with antlers? In West Texas I still have some deer with both antlers. Most are smaller bucks, maybe 2 1/2 years old. I started picking up sheds in January, mostly from the larger older bucks and was just wondering if this is the norm everywhere or just out here.

I hunt in East Texas and the latest I've ever seen a buck with both antlers still on his head was March 23rd, about 7 years ago. Just a medium buck. This year I started getting pictures of bucks that had shed in early February. I do think mature bucks drop there antlers earlier than young bucks, probably from being run down from the rut and the testosterone dropping. -
I was in south Texas over the weekend and there were bucks with both, some around here still have both.Comment
