    I hate theives

Monday afternoon I took off down to Houston for a business meeting tue. morning. I met with Jay at Gander Mountain in Spring to drop off the blind he bought from me and to shoot for a bit. Jay had a good time shooting with ya and it was nice to finally meet someone off of TBH.

Well I drove on down to Houston and my meeting was in downtown so I went to the Holiday Inn Express on Bell street right behind the Toyota Center. I got there late about 930PM and there were no parking spots in the front so I had to park in the back parking lot - there were 15-20 other vehicles parked in the back as well. I parked in a handicap spot right next to the entrance door directly under the light, I backed into the parking spot and my truck was clearly visible from the lobby front desk through the windows, not to mention being directly under a light. I took my bow, my camera, my laptop and clothes into my room - I figured my arrow case with all my arrows 2 dozen complete FMJ's were left in the truck as well as an unopened wedding gift - which was delivered right before I left my house that afternoon.

When I went out to my truck this morning I notice a wire hanging from my truck - when I got to it I noticed my door was not completly closed and that the lock had been punched. My alarm never even went off - factory alarm. I open the door and everything in my truck was thrown all over the place and wires were all over the place. The got my head unit - my amp which was under the bench in the ext. cab - the wedding gift ( I have no idea what it was or who it was from) , my arrow case, and all the paper work I had in my center console ( mostly junk).

So - there I was standing in the rain in my suit looking at the interior of my truck that has been trashed. Bad start to the morning.

I have worked very hard to have the things I have - I had over 250 dollars in arrows alone and they took those - and I am sure they have a sweet ride to fling those arrows with. (heavy sarcasm)

I just don't understand why people feel it necesary to damage and take what others have worked so hard for. How can they not have any compassion or respect for anothers property?

I spoke with managers at the hotel and the said that they are not responsible for any theft or damage that occurs in the parking lot. It is a privately owned Holiday Inn so I am going to contact the parent company and see what I can do in regards to getting some compensation.

So - I do not recommend using the Holiday Inn Express on Bell Street in Downtown Houston behind the Toyota Center. Anyone have any recommendations on how to handle contacting the parent company about compensation?

I stayed there during a cheer compition my daughter had and the lot was full so I parked outside the front door, tipped the security guard so that he would leave it there over night without problems and without waking me up to move it when a spot came free. I didn't have any issues though. I will Houston is not what it used to be and has gotten worse. We were hit up for "spare cash" about 5 times between the toyota center and the hotel twice a day for three days.

Those things mean a lot to YOU. They mean absolutely nothing to HIM. Doesn't enter his sorry mind what he's doing to you or how you are going to feel about it. If anything, he has contempt for you for having so many nice things and he doesn't. Believe me, you are on the better end of the deal. Sorry about your loss. Ray

May be covered by your homeowners insurance, but may not meet your deductible.
I'm with you, no lower life form than a thief.

Sorry to hear that. The only thing factory alarms are good for is getting a discount on your car insurance. other than that they are worthless.

Sorry that happened. I am sure you are very irritated and feel violated. Why are you looking to the hotel for compensation?

I understand that they claim no responsibility for theft or damage to your vehicle parked in their parking lot - but why would I want to stay there ever again if I can't do it and be confident that my vehicle, my personal possesions will be safe and because I am out almost 1000 dollars and I would like to try an recoup what I can.

I think it would be good business of the property owners to want to help out with this. Just my .02

Had the same thing happen to my truck a few months back just north of town. Now I do not keep anything of value in my truck.

Sorry to hear this happened to you.

I managed hotels for a few years, and unless the hotel company you are dealing with is completely different than any I have heard of, you are wasting your time and energy trying to get anything from them.

They really are not responsible for damage or theft that happens in the parking lot, items stolen from your room by employees, another guest puking on your shoes, items stolen from you by a "paid companion", or pretty much anything else.

I don't know anything about the hotel you were in, but it is not unusual for there to be only one or two employees in a small hotel during the overnight shift. Even if your vehicle was plainly visible from the lobby there is no reason to think anyone would have seen anything.

I spent a lot of time in good hotels in bad areas, and this kind of thing happens a lot. Your own insurance is your best bet for some reimbursement.

hate to hear this and I too hate a theif, but I see no way or no how do the owner of the business owe you a penny nor should you try and protest their business by not going back there again or telling others not to.

again, I know it sucks but just dont understand how you feel they owe you anything.
