Alice Texas HELP!

So I found out yesterday that my job is sending me and the family to Alice,well Benavida really.From Amarillo. I don't plan on living in Benavida. I need any input you can offer. Schools, church, better side of town for housing, side of town to stay away from. Anything. I'll be moving in July.

Well first of all it is Benavides with an s on the end. As for which side of town to live on, it isn't a big enough town to worry about it. This side of the light, or that side of the light. Just kidding it is a small town thought. Heck of a lot smaller than Amarillo. Blink and you will have passed thru it. Good luck,

It is the "Hub of South Texas" at least that is what they call it. Pretty small, but has all the necessary comfort to sustain, plus lots of good hunting nearby, hope you like hog hunting, they are ate up with them.

If you find a piece of property I know a very good builder that has put up many homes out the the South Texas brush country. The schools are small and you will have the choice to bus your kids to San diego or Premont for school. There is a new primary school in Benavides that looks really nice. It is a 1A school district. The town is not much to look at so your closest bigger town would be Alice. My boss lives in Benavides and commutes to Corpus daily, if you need any more info I can ask him whatever you like.

My buddy is the State Farm Agent in Alice, TX who would be a good guy to visit since he knows everyone in that part of the country. I was just in Benavides this past weekend at our family ranch hunting hogs. Don't get used to how it looks right now because that's the best I've seen that part of the country look in many years! That rain sure does green the place up a lot! Good luck with the move and like stated above Benavides is a small little town.

you could always live in Corpus and commute about 45mins each way. also you should brush up on your Spanglish....amigo..

The people over there are very friendly.You will also put on some weight over there due to the breakfast tacos. I'm sure you will eat them alot in the morning before you go to work or hunting.

Alice..look on the north side of Hwy 44 towards the municipal golf course. IMO

Hey when I get alittle extra time, I'll shoot you a PM in the next day or so with alot of info about the area. Thats where I'm from..... one of the best schools in the area is Orange Grove by the way, but thats another 20 miles north of Alice.

Yes it is, everytime I pass by an old cool looking building like that, I always say that I want to buy it and turn it into an office. I dont know why they let buildings like that just rot away...

I would look at living in Calallen for good schools, church, etc. and commute to Benavidas if the schools are really that important to you.
