I made some DIY racks for a 4 wheeler once and used it, believe it was dupont brand... Anyhow, if it's new metal make sure and get all the oily stuff off that comes on new metal, old metal just make sure it is clean as well....
I use the herculiner brand kit from O'reilly's on my work truck beds. A heavy pallet will scrape it up a little but overall pretty impressed. And the good thing is you keep some left overs in a can and it's easy touch up if needed. Overall pretty satisfied though, we load all kinds of heavy pallets on flat beds without too often it coming off.

How many coats did you use for the beds?
I used the herculiner on my jon boat that I'm still working on. I'm going to cover my entire boat after I build the deck for it.
I did about 3 coats on it, light coats at that. Expecting to have to redo them off and on and so far very impressed. The 3 light coats i did are actually durable and lasting. i think 2 would be more than enough.
I bought some of that roll on bed liner paint from wally world and used it to coat a plywood bed cover for my truck. Had it for almost a year and it held up well.
I also used the herculiner on my jon boat, inside and out, including the bottom. Not even the rocky river bottom has hurt it yet. The only mistake I made was using the spray-can stuff from o'reilley's for the hard-to-paint areas on the boat, and it is peeling off like crazy.
