Whatever you use make sure it says you can use it safely on St. Augustine.

Thanks for all the help. I shall strike the clover within the next couple of days. The battle has begun!

I have the perfect solution. Walk out there look at it and say out loud to the clover. You are now a food plot for deer. Walk back in the house and watch it die by morning. The grass will hear it and invaded the clover overnight and suck all moisture and nutrients out of it. Rain will stop appearing and clover will never grow there again no matter what you try !!

It may be just a little late now but in January/February you can use plain old roundup on the clover. Since the St. Augustine is dormant the roundup doesn't hurt it.

Leave it be, it is putting down nitrogen and your grass will be better off for it.

I used Scotts Bonus S last spring and it seemed to work pretty well. Do need to do it again this spring though..

                X2!
Just keep mowing it. As the St Augustine starts to grow, it will begin to take over the clover. IMO, clovers are not a noxious weeds that can take over and destroy a lawn. Clover is generally a tender, early season weed that will eventually die out as the temps rise.

I used the Bayer sprayer from Lowes. It took care of the clover the very next day. All of mine is now dead and the grass is doing fine.

Healthy St. Augustine will take care of the clover as soon it warms up and the grass takes off. Augustine will choke out just about any weed in your yard. I use to worry about spring weeds and treating and pulling them and all that. Now I just let the SA do what it does every year. My yard does not look great right now, but in 30days it will take care of itself w/o the addition of any herbicide.

I use Ortho weed be gone. That stuff has worked wonders for me. Kills clover, dollar weed and any other broad leaf weeds. Easy to apply, hook containter to end of garder hose, turn water on, open valve on bottle and spray away until your done. A week later weeds are gone, st aug. and bermuda still good. I've used it for 6 years now and wouldn't use anything else.

There is a herbicide that you can get at Walmart that you hook onto a water hose. I forget the brand but is says on the front that it is for Southern lawns.
