Looks like its time to break out the snake boots if you are going to be down south any time soon. My friends dad killed this in George West this weekend. Measured 5'11". He said it struck at him several times.

I missed killing a 4 footer at the ranch this weekend. I was out in the driveway by the house and saw him crossing a road about 40 yards away. By the time I grabbed a short piece of rebar out of my truck and ran down there he had gotten off in the brush and I couldn't find him.

I have observed the drought/rain cycle over many years in South Texas and historically the snake population seems to explode after a drought breaks (like happened this year).
