    New Braunfels Camping

Anyone know of a good place to camp near New Braunfels? I won Schlitterban (I don't know if I spelled that right) tickets but can't really afford a hotel, especially the way gas prices are going. But hey, that's pretty country so camping will be even better, right?

Not sure if they have any spaces left, but maybe they can give you some other info...http://www.riverroadcamp.com

i'm going there also for vacation on 6/7 thru??? we stay at the guadalupe outpost.the name has changed this year(grueneriverresort??) but you can find it in the web.i think they have tent camping there. i got a room(a/c), wife and kids are kinda spoiled!! oh well, i gotta keep her happy!!! they have a good rec-room, pool with a slide, rent tubes and do shuttles, free ice, provide bbq/smoker equipment and are right on the river! the water park is not that far away either. when are you going??

We'll probably be there somewhere around the 5th. I don't mind the trains, but I'm sure my fiance would. I'm tempted to go the cheapest route (probably Canyon Lake) but thought I should ask around first. The girls will probably want to swim, fish and bowfish so it may be worth it to spend a little extra. How's the water clarity in that area?

i went last year for a family vacation. to me, that means leaving ALL hunting fishing stuff behind so i can spend QUALITY time with the wife and kids!! as long as i stay busy it's alright though! the water on the guad and the comal are so nice and clear, 15' deep looks like 2' ! the swimming and tubbing are a blast there! i can't speak for canyon lake, but i think it is crystal clear also. how long will you be staying, what day(s) will you be going to schlitterbahn?

Just a night or two. We haven't decided yet. I don't have a boat so I'm thinking that fishing/bowfishing might be best in the river where we can wade in. The good thing is that the girls (my daughter, fiance and her daughter) love fishing/bowfishing, hunting etc. In all truth, I'm not all that thrilled about holding a rod but if the kids like it, then I'm there.

potters creek park on canyon lake's north shore. or really any of the parks on canyon lake. if you go to canyon lake once you'll keep going for the rest of your life.

                      Thanks

That's very kind of you. Of course that's not a surprise on TBH. I appreciate the offer. Unfortunately, we have to be back before the week is up. Mine are 9 and 4.

Mesquite Country, is it hard to access the river around the lake? Or, is bowhunting possible in the shallow parts of the lake?

You might call Schlitterbaun, they may have a deal with a camp site in the area and get you fixed up. You can also call Guadalupe River State Park, it's down Hwy 46 towards Boerne, west of US 281. Kinda far but like all state parks, well maintained.

Lung Buster, are you gonna be at Schlitterban or one of the aforementioned lakes/parks?

Haco (pronounced Waco) Springs is a great little camping spot, right off River road.
