    12 volt battery in a 6v feeder....

can you run 12v batteries in 6v feeder setups?

a place here in town is going out of business and liquidating everything...someone beat me to the 6v/4.5ah batteries at $3.45 a pop....guy is willing to wheel and deal on 12v batteries....as long as my timer is 12v compatible, any reason why I can't take this opportunity to save some coinage?

No.....your 6 V motor will burn up.....if not immediately, much quicker than normal

Depends on the motor. I've got a motor in one of my feeders that will work with 6, 12, or 24 volts. The timer, however, is for 6v or 12v only. I'd be more concerned about the timer than the motor.
If I didn't think my opinion was right, then it wouldn't be my opinion. So, any other opinion must be wrong, therefore stupid.

        It'll work ... for a while anyway.
During the working time it's gonna sling the hell outta some corn!

Don't know about all of them but I know the 6v digital Remington timer/motors work with 12 volt battery. I have this set up on all my feeders. Battery lasts much longer than if I use 6 volt and I have been doing this for years and have not had a timer go bad yet.

The Remington Timers I have seen are 6/12V....so they can take either.....much like "The Timer". I am assuming your is this way....correct?

What size is the actual motor ...not timer....?

I guess worst case scenario, I waste a motor but once replaced, I will have a longer running setup eh?

I only have one running out in the field right now anyway...guess I could just swap the stuff around, upgrade it for cheaper than it would be normally...

I think your screen name is missing a few letters....wha wha whaaaaa

anywho, well the one variable where I would go with the twelve would be for the longer lasting battery....nothing I hate more than getting to a feeder to find a dead battery or it be out of corn...

on the other hand, you could probably run a feeder and a night light off of the same 12 volt battery pretty successfully...like that harbor freight light I posted a while back....might have to knock down the voltage a bit for the light but it should work....

Ever thought about some solar charger insurance for the dead battery syndrome?

yes mr. man, they have solar panels on them...re: same harbor freight thread mentioned before...

however, the bleepin coons from time to time figure out how to yank the panel loose or chew the wire or whatnot....yes, I need to get some of that small, flexible conduit for the panel wiring and then I would be set...

I figured since you mentioned the 12 volt would last longer you didn't have panels....
