    Finally got a hog/deer place

Finally, got a friend with about 80 acres in Atascosa county. Pretty thick but with a clearing back in the brush should be a great hog and maybe deer spot. There are some old box blind stands on some senderos, but I think I'd do better to cut a trail back into the brush and then clear a feeder circle and perhaps hang a stand, plus a box blind. Handshake deal. Only one rule, "Don't shoot the bobcats." I'm excited.

Cool..I used to hunt 85acers in Pleasenton. A word of advice...Dont even park on the place if possible. Keep noise down and dont walk around to much...It's real easy to push all the game off 80 acers. The hog hunting is awesome there. They will come through in waves..have fun.

Stealth mode for sure, one feeder spot at first and perhaps another later on. Park by the house. And he did say the hogs are thick.

Some of my best memories hunting were done on a 100 acre tract.

Shot my first bow buck on that land, the land around with was getting developed, the day I shot the buck I could hear children screaming and playing.

Any suggestions on a snake proof ground blind would be appreciated. One think that is off limits is Bob cats.

Pretty flat and thick. Maybe a ladder will work if I find a decent tree near were I want toe put the feeder. Otherwise box blind will be the trick, just don't want to share space with buzz worms.

Just remember to put your feeder upwind of the predominant winds as much as possible so that when you walk in from the house you can have the best wind possible which will help in not spooking game. I'm sure you already got that covered I just though I'd point it out.

If you plan on using a pop up, build a small platform about 2-3' high out of wood and you can attach it to the base. It will get you up off the ground a little.

Price is great. My plan is to build a Dexcion blind and raise the about 8-10 inches. There are box blind platforms throughout the property, but hauling one of them back in the brush might be more than I want to tackle. Plus, want to keep the spot as inconspicious as possible. After I get the aerial photo I have a better idea.

                          Thanks for the comments.
