What kind of mpgs are you getting from a 7.3?

I had a lucky experience last weekend, I hit a tree with my ranger and wasn't hurt! But I'm pretty sure it's going to total. I'm thinking I'm going to buy a used 4x4 diesel. Been a dodge fan most of my life, but liked the ranger, so a Ford is not out of the question. I'm just wondering what kind of milage the TBHers are getting out of thier 7.3's. I'll have to drive this thing to work so most my drive is highway, with about 5 miles on plugged up I35.

I get 15 on the highway and 12 with a load.

I had a 94 and i would get 15-17 on the highway then I put some high performance injectors in it from sierra international in El Paseo and i would get 18-20 empty and around 16 with a trailer

My dodge, with the 5.9 cummins gets 18-22 mpg. You might not ever get that put of a 7.3 power stroke.

It really depends on what mods you do to it and how heavy your foot is on the pedal. I get between 12-14 mpg (Crewcab 4x4) most of the time but I have a 4" lift and oversized tires. I know a guy here in corpus with a Crewcab with out a lift who gets from 22-25mpg with an aftermarket exhaust and a chip tuned for better fuel economy. If you keep your RPM's below 2000 you will get the best fuel economy. You may want to do some reading on www.thedieselstop.com There is tons on info on the 7.3 on that site.

My "03" gets 16-18 and that's with an Edge programmer. Not the best fuel mileage but I still wouldn't give her up, best diesel out there. IMO.

I usually get about 15-17 on the highway in my 93, but decided to drive it unloaded with the cruise set on 60 mph for about 100 miles today. I didn't believe it myself, 22.7 mpgs, and that's with about 600 pounds of grill guard, headache rack, bed rails, toolbox, and running boards, all steel. Gotta love the old diesels!

my 97 gets 20 1/2 on the hwy and 15-16 around town

2001 F350 4x4 CC 7.3l....Quadzillaraider chip...18 on the highway....14-15 in town or towing.....figured by hand although the computer is pretty close to the actual.....

Keep the tach at or just below 2 grand and youll get your best fuel economy.That is 68-69 mph in my rig.

We got 15-17 out of ours and I miss it everyday...the 7.3 is the best motor out there..

97 4x4 1 ton crewcab with 35's I averaged 15. 99 crewcab 3/4 2x4 21 average.

99" 1ton crew cab 4x4 7.3 15-17 mpg my 2000 3/4 ton 4x4 CC got 16-18.
