    Anyone know about roping saddles?

I’m hoping one of y’all can help me out. I sold my saddle and I have to replace it so I can teach riding lessons this spring and summer. I found a saddle I like but I’m not sure about the brand. Do any of y’all know anything about Hereford brand saddles? It looks like a decent saddle but I know the cheaper brands don’t fit right and tend to pinch at the withers. Is Hereford made by Tex Tan? I can’t seem to find anything on them and I don’t want a cheap saddle that’s made in Mexico.

I believe the hereford is a good brand bet you wish you would have never sold your saddles I remember them I almost bought one

I think they are ok roping saddles especially if you are not roping a whole lot. I emailed my wife who knows a lot more about saddles than me.

Hereford is made by Tex Tan. I have never sat in one. I have a buddy that has one and he seems to like it (he has other choices). It is an older one and gets a lot of use and it seems to hold up. I did a google search and from the prices they don't seem to be bottom of the barrel for sure.

The hereford saddles are made by tex tan of yoakum,tx. They are moderately priced saddles, good work for production saddles. You should have no problems with roping out of one, I have yet to see a tree on a tex tan break from pen roping. I would not pay over $600 for an excellent used one. Just be sure to make sure the tree is tight and the leather is supple. Any more questions pm me

I have a saddle maker comming in from COlorado soon, She has 12 different trees so she can custom FIT THE HORSE so there will not be any saddle fit issues. She has been making custom saddles for 20-30 years now and uses only the best leather. Sharon Saare Saddles. She will be in Texas doing fittings soon.

My dad has a handful of hereford yoakum saddles from back in the day. They are ok pretty plain and not real comfortable to me but they are a good all round ranch saddle. Im a Billy Cook man myself nothing finer than a Cook saddle. Ive found several good used Cooks in pawn shops for $500.

The 2 I was selling were way too big for me and I had to sell one to buy a new one. I have my boyfriends 16" if I need it and my cousin's 17" saddle plus my son has a 12" saddle so I'm covered I just need a 15 or 15.5" for myself and for teaching. I still have the Circle T for sale but I'm not worried if I sell it or not. I have a friend that wants it this spring when he starts training again, if I still have it.

here is a pic, she's asking $300 which is in my price range. I'm just waiting to hear back on the gullet size I would love to have a Billy Cook or a Circle Y but that will have to be on my "Someday" list

Is the saddle stamped on the fenders with a hereford logo. I couldn't see one?

Yeah Herfords aint bad. Not a Y or Cook but they make a good working saddle. I never had one of my own but used a few when we worked cows alot and I rode my friends horses. Wasnt about to ruin a 10 g roping horse in the woods
