I have a 2001 Dodge Ram that I bought in '02. The dash cracked in several places a couple years later. It is a VERY nice truck otherwise. I've looked recently online and found some hard plastic replacement pieces ranging from $100-$300. They supposedly snap in place over the top of the cracked dash and are easy to install. I'm sure there are many of you on here who have experienced these problems, but has anybody attempted to fix it. If so what should I pay and what type of fix should I get?? Thanks.

2001 RAM 1500. The dash 'finally' started cracking last summer, and then rapidly got multiple.
With 182k miles I was not putting in a new dash, this black dash mat was 'custom' made by a local shop for $25. I did not want the edge coming to the end of the black dash trim, nor did I want it to cover the passenger airbag. She said with her accent "OK". I did not use the velcro strip, but a bunch of Shoe Goop adhesive all over the dash and set the mat down on top of it. Looks OK to me, I like the black instead of original tan.

I had a 2000 several years back and it fell apart as well. the dealer wanted 7-8hundred to replace it. I told them to just sell me a dash and I would do it myself. They thought it was a bad idea, after all you need to be a professional and 5 hours to get it done. Well,
a flat head screw driver, 1/4" nut driver and I think a 3/8 nut driver as well and I had it replaced by myself in little more than a hour.
You can do it your self, just pay attention while taking the old one out.
