    foxpro or mouth callers????

I was wondering for those of you predator hunters what would you suggest a mouth call or a foxpro? Reason?? I already have a extreme dimensions caller right now with both predator sound modules it works pretty good (maybe looking to sell) but just seeing what some of you others may be using that may be better. thanks

FoxPRo-gives you the ability to set the caller away from you-that helps with movement and scent control. Also the ability to change sounds at the same location. If you got the coin the FoxPro is the way to go.

I have no experience in the area but I think the mouth calls may be just as effective as the high dollar FoxPro.

I do own some mouth calls and plan to use them soon. My only concern of one over the other is location. If you use a mouth call, no matter how good you are, the predator is going to be focused on your position as that is where the sound is coming from.

From the videos of the FoxPro, the thing that I picked up the most is not that it is necessarily any better but that you can put it fair far out away from you. The varmint is going to be zeroing in on the location of the sound. It is not foolproof but it seems like having the sound out away from you will give you a better chance of remaining concealed. It is not a guarantee but any edge helps.

This. Even if you're skilled enough with a mouth call to make it sound as good as a foxpro, you're still drawing their focus directly to you.

Go with both!!! If you can get a Fox Pro then get one(or any other GOOD electric caller). BUT don't over look the importance of mouth calls either. Not ever animal is going to respond to a programed sequence on a caller. And not every animal is going to respond to the same voice of a call either.

Do I own a Fox Pro? YES and I love it, but I will never go out into the woods without my mouth calls either!

                Just my .02

If I'm going predator calling, I take my Fox Pro. It works the best! But when I'm deer hunting, I always have a mouth call with me. There have been a whole lot of times that I've seen a coyote cross the road, or show up out of range. I just grab the mouth call and start calling. Probably 50% of the time they will show up and give me a shot.

I may be in the minority here but I think you will become a better caller with a foxpro or any other remote e-caller once you figure out how to consistently call in coyotes with hand calls.
I would not even spend the money on an e-caller until you do that. Spend that money on getting out in the field and making the stands to learn.

Both have there place but you can't argue the success of a E-Caller.

Maybe, but I'd be willing to bet that all the learning that you did in your early experience with hand calls taught you pretty much the same things that someone can learn with an e-caller. You're going to screw up and learn the hard way no matter what you use to make the sounds. You learn how to set up in relation to wind and terrain and cover. You learn to not skyline yourself. You learn how to read animals' body language to decide is it time to go ahead and shoot or are they still going to come in closer, etc....

But I do agree that if you can call in a coyote and kill him while blowing a hand call, then you can certainly do it with an e-caller. It's harder with a hand call.

                          some more free advice

invest in a quality set of shooting sticks and get a squeaker that you can attach to the sticks

another example of the set-up ,
**note** - IMO , e-caller is to close to shooter , FoxPro needs to be placed upwind , within view

Thanks fellas. That's great info I have both but have called more at one time with the ecaller. But I just need to learn to mouth call better I need to hang around my bro (nanny slammer) and learn a few more things. Great info

Mouth calls work as well as my high priced electronic caller and are easier to carry.
