    Recommendations on hog trap placement

Just purchased a hog trap and am wondering if I should place it close to my feeder or at a distance. We have several feeders in place and the hogs visit routinely. Whitetails are our primary game and I don't want the deer getting spooked even though the season is over. How long should I leave the door open for them to get used to the trap? I'm going to use corn but any other tips would help. Thanks for any tips.

By the feeder is fine as you will have to move it periodically as they get used to it or as soon as you catch and shoot one in it. Also, make sure that you take some grass or vegitation and cover the metal floor at the entrance. Big pigs are often hard to trick. Bait with corn as it is easy and works fine. Good luck .....catch and kill them all !!! You have to kill 7 out of every 10 to maintain the population and 8 out of 10 to start to reduce their numbers.
