    Public Apology!

Guys, I want to publicly apologize to Ole Thumper for calling him retarded in a previous thread.

He and I used to have a friendship outside TBH and have recently made contact again on TBH after +-10 years. We used to "poke" at each other and I gave him a "poke" on a public thread.

I have learned my lesson and vow to never speak negatively of anyone on any forum!

    Please accept my apology!

    Sorry Thumper!!!!

    Kyle

Way to man up. I have done it more than once on here and have just about got the bad taste of my foot out of my mouth, hopefully to never say anything idiotic again...

Using the word "retarded" outside of its clinical definition is insensitive and inappropriate. I'm not casting stones, as I have been guilty of it myself. But this is something I've wised up about and have been trying to teach my kids. Unfortunately, it's become a fad word that many young people use out of context. Eventually, they will (as I did) run into someone with a mentally challenged child and find out how hurtful it is to use it in an inappropriate context.

It's kind of like the word "rape." A pet peeve of mine is people who use the word "rape" to mean they were cheated in a business deal or something of that nature. All you have to do is know one person (as I do) who is a true victim of rape to find out how hurtful and insensitive it is to trivialize the word by using it in the wrong context.

Props to you! I eat my own words every once in a while and it takes a bigger man to admit he's wrong.
