Urgent Canon GL@ or other Camcorder Guru Help Required

We leave for Africa tomorrow and I am just now getting time to mess with my new GL2. I have it connected to my laptop with fire wire and have opened Adobe Premier. I am trying to download the recorded videos, but it says there is no devise connected.

The camera shows up in my computer and if I go to capture video I see what the camera is pointed at so I know it is connected.

How the heck do you download your videos?

Turn the camera to the VCR function. You have it on camera, which is making the computer think you are wanting to use it as a web cam. Hope this helps.
