My take is that our government has a love hate relationship on the issue.

On the love side are the billions of $$$ that will go unclaimed in the Social Security Dept due to fictitious SS numbers.

On the hate side are the billions of $$$ in medical and school costs that cost all of us tax payers now and I think that Texas & California get hit the hardest.

I forget what the numbers are but when you subtract the love from the hate it nets a financial deficit for us legal Americans paying the bill.

I wish there was a way to make it work with out it coming out of my pocket book. As an example, I sent all of my kids private school K-8... 9 years saving the government, let's see 3 kids x 9 years x ave $5,000/yr = $135,000 ! Granted that's not a lot of money, but not one dime of it was acknowledged with a tax deduct. Now add on the costs for each illegal kid in our school system x 5,000/yr min. You can see how it can get out of hand real quick.

The point is that it is easy for the government to pay for something that they don't have to pay for. I wish the best for the citizens of Mexico, but I just don't want to have to support the give-aways with my tax dollars.

Hey Tinman here are some site that I found that are reprting exactly what I was saying. I think you would be hard pressed at best to dismiss this as propaganda. Do some research and check different sites on your own and you will see there is nothing innocent or non harming about them coming here illegally. If you find something that is a positive would you post it because I would like to see it. This is not to be confused with LEGAL immigration. Those that condone or would turn a blind eye to such behavior are really doing your fellow countryman and country an injustice in my opinion. I will say it again we are a Republic which means we are a Nation of laws. You cant just decide to dismiss a law of this magnitude without having some very negative repercussions. That is a fact that cannot be argued with.

That is all I was saying and somehow got misconstrued that I am against hispanics. Just would like every person coming here to be legal and pay the same taxes we do if they want the same benefits we get. Other tax issues im not real happy with but as for this thread I wont get into it.

Yes i agree that we are a nation of laws....once it was a law that women could not vote, once it was a law black men couldn't vote...where are those laws now? Where is that thinking now?

Anyone want to go pick watermelons for 5.00per hour?? So the farmer can sell the watermelon for 5 bucks? No... then lets pay people 15 dollars per hour to pick the watermelons, and the farmer can sell them for 15bucks. Who is gonna buy a 15dollar watermelon? anyone? Everyone pads their pocket like that. I'm guilty of that. In the end no one would buy the watermelons, and the farmer would loose his farm, and his family now looses everything. I'm sure someone will say that this is a bad example.

Thats it. If they want to go to college here I'm all for it, but do it legally. Canadians don't have a problem getting here legally and neither do the owners of all of the 7-elevens. Why do our neighbors to the south get the pass from so many on here if it isn't to pad their own pockets?
how do you think that they can afford to own a 7-11. When was the last time you saw a guy from mexico owning one. You think that guy from India, just swam across the ocean. Worked construction saved up 600,000 dollars to buy it all in about 5years?

Alright, you got me....Fox News never spreads propaganda!

...guess you missed the on the end of the initial post...I wasn't trying to get under your skin...sorry if I did.

I have never endorsed illegal immigration here....just don't agree with some of the things posted...especially the insults. I do think we need to do something about legitimizing this labor force so that we can collect income tax, social security, socialized health care (oh wait, different thread....I don't support that either) from them so that the drain on our system is lessoned...but kinda like stopping the flow of drugs at the border, shipping them all home and keeping them out ain't gonna happen....no matter how many BILLION$$$$ we throw into the effort.

I looked very hard and I couldn't find where it said give me millions of ILLEGAL immigrants either. That is no part of the constitution, that is an inscription on a monument that we recieved as a gift from the french. The liberties of our citizens ( black and women ) were being infringed upon on a very large scale. It took a while to get those injuctices dealt with but they were addressed and corrected as they should be. We are not a perfect nation but we are the best that there is or ever has been. You cannot allow an illegal alien to enter this country just because you think it is an injustice of this country. I doubt you would invite homeless people that you didn't know anything about over to your house and give them unfetterd access to your home and your family, would you? America is hated by a lot of people and it is foolish at best and irresponsible and dangerous at worst to allow such behavior, and I welcome your fact based arguments and or your opinions that would suggest the need to do so.

Your not under my skin Tinman. Those arent all from fox news and you know it. I just wish that people understood that we cant turn a blind eye to this problem, especially the politicians. Me and you don't agree about the legitimizing of this workforce. I think they need to be deported and enter legally. Is that pie in the sky? Probably. I can tell you this I never saw a guy cut in line at the lunch line that didn't get his *** kicked for doing so. Same principal is working here. It aint right and you know it.

Here is where you watermelon theory is flawed. You are correct that no one would buy the watermelons at $15 each but you can bet the farmer won't let them rot on the ground. Supply and demand will take care of it. A $5 melon might go up to $6 or so but that is about it.

And if you think the 15-20 million illegals in this country are picking melons, you need to go check around.

Your flaw has a flaw..... If the farmer can't produce and pick watermelons cheap enough, then he'll just stop producing watermelons. No watermelons for anybody.

As an example, if it costs the farmer so much $$$ that he has to charge $15 to make a profit, but nobody is willing to pay $15 for a watermelon....then you, in fact, have a case of S & D that provides 0 watermelons.
