My take is that our government has a love hate relationship on the issue.
On the love side are the billions of $$$ that will go unclaimed in the Social Security Dept due to fictitious SS numbers.
On the hate side are the billions of $$$ in medical and school costs that cost all of us tax payers now and I think that Texas & California get hit the hardest.
I forget what the numbers are but when you subtract the love from the hate it nets a financial deficit for us legal Americans paying the bill.
I wish there was a way to make it work with out it coming out of my pocket book. As an example, I sent all of my kids private school K-8... 9 years saving the government, let's see 3 kids x 9 years x ave $5,000/yr = $135,000 ! Granted that's not a lot of money, but not one dime of it was acknowledged with a tax deduct. Now add on the costs for each illegal kid in our school system x 5,000/yr min. You can see how it can get out of hand real quick.
The point is that it is easy for the government to pay for something that they don't have to pay for. I wish the best for the citizens of Mexico, but I just don't want to have to support the give-aways with my tax dollars.
