Lake Fork Advice

Me and a couple buddies want to make a DIY bass fishing trip in the near future to Fork. Our plan it to rent a cabin for a weekend and explore the lake and do some fishing.

Anyone have any suggestions on a good cabin/lodge to stay at? Also, generally speaking, what is a good place to get started? Any particular boat ramps that you like? Or any that are close to some good fishing? I am sure most of the lake is good, but knowing a good starting point is what I am looking for!

The north end of Birch, Glade, Pension or the back of Long Branch creeks are great in the spring.

I'll be out there the end of March for a week bed fishing.

I like lake fork marina. they have motel , boat slips, gas on the water, tent camping with electricity, good boat ramp, shower facilities for campers, marina with good selection of baits, gift shop, restraunt and overall really nice people. centrally located on that side of the lake. been goin to fork since 89. have only stayed at one other marina motel located on williams creek, the wife caught a 13.10 and the folks at the marina "fishermans cove" didn't know the number to share a lunker. had to call lake fork marina to get the number. i've stayed there ever since. as far as fishing IT ALL LOOKS GOOD

I said few people know Fork better that Richard. You are one of the few I was talking about.

This will sound crazy to some of you but I would go to Lake Tyler and hang on to you pole. Tyler is a sleeper for big uns.

When it's hot, it's great, but at times it can be down right awful! I still want you to take me fishing (we can use my boat) sometime on Tyler.

I don't claim to be the greatest at Fork but know the lake pretty good after 15+ years fishing it and then buying a place there. When are you going? If I'm there I'll be more than happy to let you follow me along. There are so many good areas at Fork, it depends when your there.
The weather has been crazy this year and the spawn will be later this year the way it looks. If your going within the next couple of weeks I would be throwing lipless crank baits (rattle trap type) or chatter baits. If you find grass this time of year you will find the fish! Shoot me a PM and I'll be more than happy to help you out as much as I can. If you call Lake Fork Marnia ask for Cameron. It's a good place to stay, but this time of year the other side of the lake is the place to fish!!

Be carefull I've seen a few examples of damage to peoples boats that dont know the lake very well. Its an absolute jungle in many places but if the waters up then alot of the stumps are covered so you can't see them

Little Caney has alot of great pre-spawn/ spawning areas, Glade is a great place to use traps. Long Branch, is good too. Look for deep water staging areas near spawning flats and hang on. This time of year just fish slow and methodically. Jigs and Texas/Carolina rigs are my favs. It's also a good time for Crappie, if the Bass elude ya for very long. Good luck, rip some lips!
