    Freezer problems

Any ideas on how to keep a freezer from freezing over. I've defrosted it. Turned down the settings, filled it full. filled it half full. unplugged it and let it thaw completely out then dried the inside. No luck. the darn thing freezes up in a couple days. grrrrrrrrrr

Sounds like it low on refrigerant? EDIT: My HVAC boss says make sure the condensor and evaporator are totally clean. Then check the gasket and make sure it is sealing well. Moisture is getting in there from somewhere.
To check the gasket place a doller bill on the gasket, close the door and pull the bill. If it comes out easily your gasket is shot.

I have always found it to be the case when it is out of freon.

I had the same problem. Sounds like a problem with your defrost cycle Could be a bad t-stat, defrost heater, or something else.

Even though you don't live in DFW - Call Roy @ U Fix It in Dallas - 214-321-7054 and give him the mfg, model #, etc and he will give you the probable causes. The guy is a little strange, he will put you on hold as he only deals with one customer at at time (lined up), but is the most knowledgeable out there.

I'll bet it is your thermastat heating element. Easy to replace. It is a heating wire inside a glass tube that heats to keep the freezer from frosting over. Been there done that......

yeah, sounds like it needs to be cleaned or the stat is bad.
