    Javelina Hunt.... Finally

Hey everybody I got back from my long awaited south Texas javelina hunt Sunday. I was going to post this thread yesterday but was tired from the long drive. I finally went on the hunt this past weekend and I have to say it was a blast but it was bittersweet though. I was on the ranch just walking around and scouting that was until I saw a javie eating some corn on a clearing by the mesquites and cactus about 80 yards away. The wind was perfect for my stalk so as quite as I could I stalked up about to it about 30 yards and he spooked into the brush. Heart broken I put my arrow back in my quiver and waited a bit then I decieded to walk up futher. When out of the brush I saw him coming out about 15 yards away. I took my arrow back out nocked it up and got ready. He came out perfectly broadside I drew the S2 back and put the pin right behind his shoulder, released and boom I hit him a little far back.. Complete pass through but horrible placement. I waited about an hour and followed the blood trail into the thick brush. I looked and looked and looked but lost the blood trail and could feel nuthin but pure disapointment. I was blessed just to have the chance at one and hope maybe I can get one in the future. Sorry for the long thread but I just wanted toshare my experience with ya'll. Thanks

The tone of your story relates how much fun you had. Thanks for sharing. Go get 'em another day.

Live to fight another day. Glad you had fun!

Too many people dont give javi credit. They are fairly easy to stalk if the wind is right, but the kill zone is about the size of a soft ball and more forward than us deer hunters are use to. They usually dont bleed much, and will run and hide under anything they can. (you did a great job waiting, thats where most mess up).
You will get em' next time!

Many MANY javis are lost. They are a tuff little guy for sure. I always recommend shooting them through the front shoulder to break them down. They are very difficult to track in that nasty south Texas brush for sure.
          Better luck next time!
