    f250 question

i know alot of guy have f250s on here, got a quick question see if anyone has had this problem before and have gotten it fixed.....2006 f250 with 70k on it, last couple days after driving for a good bit it sounds like a big Ol' fan is coming on under the hood while it accelerates, it goes up and down with the rpms, lounder at a higher rpm, quieter at lower rpms. Its never had this before and its loud because you can hear it clear as day over that diesel....only mods on it is aftermartket air intake and aftermarket exhaust, no chip in it. almost sounds like a overheat fan, any ideas???

You are describing your "clutch fan" and its normal function, well almost normal it is thermostat operated.

Make sure your antifreeze level is normal....the clutch fan should not be engaging very often unless you are pulling a heavy load or your engine is over heating....

Ck your coolant level. If it is low you should take it to a ford house to ck for leaks. If it is not low the oil cooler may stoped up causing high oil temp which will make the fan come on and you should still go to a dealer. Your repairs may be covered under the 100,000 mile warranty and just cost $100.

sounds like the clutch may be locked up on the fan, i know there were alot of warrenty fixes for the 6.0

I had this exact issue on my 2008 f250 diesel.

After a week I took it to the dealer, basically the 2ndary cooling fan runs on hydaulics and electrical sensor, and my sensor went out and the hydraulics would run it note than necessary. It was a easy and quick fix (mine was warrenty sodomy know price).

                Hope this helps
