    GPS toggle button

I won this on ebay #320486331820 Magellan eXplorist 500.

Seller informs after the auction closes that the toggle button rubber cover is ripped. The ad picture does not show the rip. My concern is will this allow moisture to get inside the unit. Now I have not paid for the unit and he has a seven day return policy. Seller is located in Ft Worth.

Your thoughts. Should I pay for it, test it and if I don't like it return it?

I personally would pass on it unless you got it at a really good deal. Or find out how much Magellan would charge to replace the cover. It might be free with a fast turn around. Call Magellan customer service and then decide.

I would worry, since he did not disclose up front. Unless it was really a steal, I would pass.

I would be scared when sellers start saying stuff after auction is over. If you got a great deal on it.You could probally order a replacement for it.

$82 plus 7.50 for shipping. I asked to meet up with him, but he said no. Wasn't worth the time or gas money for such a cheap shipping price. It was then he informed me of the rip. I do appreciate him telling me the rip, but I have my doubts.

I have never seen one in that bad of shape. If it was more than $20 then send it back. Send it back and buy the magellan explorist 400 that I have for sale. It is like brand new.

Timm talk to Glenn about the toggle rubber. Personally though I do not see that it is a really great deal and the guy seams kinda shady. You can get a really good GPS now for $100.

I'd pass. If he had indicated the button issue in the posting, it would not have brought that much (and he knows it).

I informed him that I would not purchase the item. I am sure I will get some sort of feedback from him or EBAY will contact me about the deal.

RUN FROM IT! You will not be able to find replacement parts for it.

Magellan no longer supports the Explorist line of GPS's. I have the 400 and I now have to press some of the buttons super hard for them to work. It started this while the gps was still within the manufacturer's warranty period and they told me all they could do was offer me a discount on one of their new Triton GPS's.
