    7.69x32

Thinking of getting a 7.69x32 ar upper. I understand they fit on the ar15 lower

I do not know much about the 7.59x32 exept it is shot in the AK47... I thing the ammo is pretty cheap.

It will be used a hog killin toy...

    So any info would help

    7.62

Magazines are the main issue . If you build one I may have some extras . . . I picked up a Factory Colt AR but have not shot it yet , I would imagine you would want to shoot the cleaner ammo in it though .

Did you mean 7.62 x 39? If you did then the mags will be the problem. If you notice on the ak's, the mags are "bent" more than the 223 mags. Withe the bend they will not fit int the lower.

There were some magazine issues due to the taper of the 7.62 v. 5.56 but if you do a little research you will find the right mags that are reliable. Let us know how it works out, I bought my AR last year and I would like to get one for my lower. If Del-Ton has them in stock I would buy from there. You could also check with Texas Tactical (google them). They have a shop near 45 south and beltway 8. Trusty www.ar15.com can give you a wealth of information, just be careful, I hear those guys are big gun nuts.

And You have to sift through the "piles" if You know what I mean. for every 1 knowledgeable person there are 10 that are far from it. After that little warning, I have had some ok luck over there getting stuff sorted out and met some great people. Good luck to Ya' the 7.62x39 will put the hurt on some hogs!

Now that would be a great disaster rig, One rifle that can shoot the two most common military cartridges in the world. Has the military not done an upper/mag combo for their purposes?

www.thehighroad.org several members over there are running them. Originally some were having feed issues due to mags and others had some extractor issues from shooting so much steel case but they them all worked out. Ton of GOOD info on that sight.

There also is a 15 page thread on ar15 that was good. Seems the feed issues we solved with the new 30 round c mag.

I knw the ammo is cheap... Got a flyer from Cabelos ysterday and you can get 1000 rounds for about $249

Might have to look into getting an uppers. New Toys...

If you want a carbine length run & gun rig it will work just fine...unfortunately I was looking to build my AR for long range shooting so I had to compromise and I'm building mine with a 6.5 Grendel upper...great round...not terribly expensive to feed and has insane ballistic coefficients in the 140 grain...

You can get them off of Midwayusa.com...I'm building mine piece by piece b/c its about 30% cheaper but you can buy the complete uppers for $980ish...personally I wanted the 24" Stainless Fluted Barrel and they don't exist as far as I know for the 7.62 w/o being custom made but they have that exact barrel on midway ready to go in 6.5 grendel for $380...
