    Lake Somerville camping?

Where is the best place at Somerville to take the family camping and fishing this weekend?

If you like a little privacy go to Birch Creek. If you don't mind the open area's I would say Rocky Creek. Both have good fishing.

I like yegua park. (pronounced yeah- waaaah) lots of nice shaded campsites on the water.

the white bass run should be startin pretty soon. a buddy of mine has been fishin off the dock at Big Creek Marina and hes been moppin up on the crappie.

The parks on the south side of the lake are supposed to be closed off and on at some point due to some work. I'm not sure exactly when this is to occur. Yegua, and Rocky Creek and maybe Overlook are Corps of Engineers parks on the south. Birch Creek State Park is on the north side. Might be your best bet at this time.

Is that marina on the south side or the one with the tires?

I've never camped there, but have all the others and also at the end of Fischer Road. Just pretty much thought of the Nails creek area as a duck hunting spot for some reason.

I've never camperd there. We usually stay down by the dam.

My suggestion would be Rocky, then Yegua, then Overlook. Overlook is privately owned.

I would stay away from Welch Park or Big Creek Park. Yegua or Birch Creek are great.

We normally stay at Rocky Creek. I know for sure that Rocky and Yequa parks are closed through May. This year my group of friends are staying at Big Creek.
